![]() ![]() This was the first Amanita game that I bought at launch, and I plan to continue that trend. This creature is lucky, as squirrel for Ice Age, but instead of acorns you will see luscious cherry. This is a strange set of comic situations, which you will face during guiding a furry ball through different life challenges. It's hard to say which of their games I like the best, because they're all so different, and each have their owns strengths. If you like adventures, you can try a new game, called Chuchel 2. The wide variety of superb, silly animations mirror that style as well. By doing so the result is a series of interactive vignettes that sometimes do feel like segments of a classic cartoon. By abandoning the trope of creating difficult and obtuse puzzles, it makes for a better paced experience. It feels more like interactive art than the standard point-and-click genre. I actually enjoy this style of game design over something more traditional like Machinarium. While the gameplay for the gaming homage sections weren't that great, the audio nods added an extra layer that I did enjoy. The sound design was expectedly brilliant as well, whether it was Chuchel's gibberish, the sound effects, or the music. It was a pretty telegraphed joke, but I really got a kick out of it and Chuchel's reaction. ago From the press kit (emphasis mine): About CHUCHEL CHUCHEL is an upcoming comedy adventure game from Amanita Design, the creators of Machinarium, Botanicula and Samorost, where fun is number one. Keine Punktzahl - "Haarig, eklig, wunderbar" - GameStar It’s a giant cuddle of a game, interesting to all ages, and with a manic edge that never slows down." - Rock, Paper, Shotgun Recommended - "Chuchel is a creation of pure joy, an absolute masterclass in silliness, with pleasingly involved puzzles to boot. If obtuse puzzles ever limited engagement with Amanita Design's previous work, Chuchel is a consciously slight offering that removes any such obstacles in favor of an artistic showpiece, an amusing diversion from a developer attuned to their considerable aesthetic strengths." - Slant MagazineĤ/5 - "CHUCHEL aims to be a mostly comedic turn for Amanita Design and succeeds due to a winning combination of idiosyncratic aesthetic choices and streamlined point-and-click mechanics." - We Got This CoveredĤ/5 - "Slighter than other Amanita offerings, CHUCHEL whizzes you through an assortment of easy but highly comical sketches, succeeding in its primary aim of making you laugh." - Adventure GamersĦ8/100 - " Chuchel’s overt humor and slick animations will make for an entertaining few hours but its simple puzzles and throwaway mini-games fail to ensnare deep imagination." - New Game Network I suppose $10 might be a bit much for some to swallow, but CHUCHEL is a great experience that is definitely worth a whirl." - DestructoidĨ0/100 - "Joyful and surprising, even when you're cracking open an anthropomorphised egg." - PC GamerĤ/5 - "The game is a concentrated burst of lovely design that's short enough to end before its title character, its scene setup, or its sparse interaction can grow stale. ![]() I don’t really know how much better this could get. The game sets out with a simple goal, achieves it beautifully, and doesn’t waste your time getting its point across. *Build an inexplicable passion for cherries.9/10 - "Trying to find fault in CHUCHEL, though, is a pretty pointless endeavor. *Please your ears with soundtrack by the IGF Award-winning band DVA. *Beat stages inspired by classic video games. *Guide Chuchel through a set of original puzzles. Independent Games Festival 2018 - Excellence in Visual Art "Silly in the best possible way.” - The Verge ![]() "A giant cuddle of a game.” - RockPaperShotgun The reward? Cheerful situational humor, wild music and sounds by the band DVA and dozens of hilarious gags that warm up even the coldest of souls. Join the hairy hero Chuchel and his rival Kekel on their quest to retrieve the precious cherry and face numerous puzzles and challenges!
